Picnicking

Picnicking is an American tradition and no trip to the Smokies is complete without one. Whether you're picnicking in one of Gatlinburg's three city parks or in Great Smoky Mountains National Park, please remember to dispose of all garbage and NEVER feed the bears or any other animal! Serious injury or death can result! It is against the law and can lead to an attack.

The sites outlined below are all located in the National Park. Several of them have designated picnic areas with tables and grills

Big Creek State 32 from Cosby Small quiet campground and creek
Mills Park Mills Park Road, Gatlinburg Pavilion with large fireplace grill, bathroom facilities, childrens playground, disk golf, and walking track.
Mynatt Park Historic Nature Trail Road, Traffic Light 8 in Gatlinburg. Excellent facilities with basketball, baseball, picnic tables, pavillion, and rushing stream with trout fishing for the children.
Cades Cove Little River Road Great start-off for the 11 mile Loop
Chimneys Newfound Gap Road Large picnic area on banks of Little Pigeon River
Deep Creek Hwy. 19 from Cherokee Covered amphitheater with several waterfall hikes nearby
Greenbrier Hwy. 321 from Gatlinburg Open & sheltered picnic areas in a perfect setting
Heintooga Balsam Mountain Road Highest picnic area in park offering great views
Metcalf Bottoms Little River Road Shady picnic tables in the cozy woods or along the river
