Horseback Riding
Exploring the Smoky Mountains from horseback can be one of the most rewarding experiences a visitor can have while visiting Gatlinburg. See the Smokies like a true pioneer and visit areas rarely seen by most visitors. 
There are companies that offer horseback riding through the mountainous terrain of the Great Smoky Mountains National Park for novices and experienced riders alike. Smoky Mountain Riding Stables and Sugarlands Riding Stables offer a natural way to see America's most visited National Park and bond with nature by following a guide through the mountain trails while atop their well-trained horses.

Cades Cove Horseback Riding Stable Re-opens
Great Smoky Mountains National Park officials have announced the reopening of the Cades Cove Horseback Riding Stables. The concession-operated stable was closed for a week while its operators worked to obtain new liability insurance coverage.
All riders under 18 years of age are required to wear equestrian helmets, and all adult riders are asked to either wear helmets or sign a statement that they decline to wear them. Children under six years old may not ride alone. Riding double is no longer permitted.
Along with horseback riding the stable also offers buggy rides on Park trails and hayrides around the 11-mile Cades Cove Loop Road.
