About Jackson Mountain Homes

Company History / Frequently Asked Questions / Guest Testimonials

Michael Anderson and A.J. Bland founded Jackson Mountain Homes, Inc. in the summer of 1994 as a source for the finest Gatlinburg Cabins and Gatlinburg Chalets. Prior to this time both Michael and A.J. operated successful businesses, Michael in Jackson Mountain Homes Signthe nuclear power industry and A.J. in the adventure cruise industry. Although Michael and A.J. had been friends since the early 70’s, as fate would have it, they both sold their Florida based companies almost simultaneously in 1993. In 1994 the partnership was cemented, all of the required real estate licenses were in place and the groundwork was being laid for the summer of “95” opening of the Jackson Mountain Homes, Inc. office in Gatlinburg’s Winery Square.

On the first day of August, 1995, Jackson Mountain Homes opened its doors with only one vacation rental cabin on its program, the Blue Heron, which remains there today along with four other cabins with the same owners. Over the years, Jackson Mountain Homes has grown considerably. So in 2001, with JMH bursting at the seams in the Winery Square location, JMH purchased the 10,000+ sq. ft. current location at 1662 East Parkway in east Gatlinburg. Today JMH manages more thanBlue Heron Cabin 165 homes in the greater Gatlinburg area with the help of many full time employees and scores of subcontract housekeepers and maintenance personnel. As a leader in the vacation lodging field, JMH was among the first companies in Sevier County to feature a state approved computer based reservations and owner accounting system, an extensive internet based property catalog with multiple photos and floor plans of each property, an online reservations system, and a fulltime quality control department whose purpose is to assure that guests receive the best vacation experience possible through it’s 120 point precheck-in inspection system.

In 1996, Christine Maltese joined the JMH management team, bringing with her a strong background in accounting as well as several years of experience as the manager of a successful West Palm Beach based vacation-lodging company. As JMH has grown, Christine has grown right along with it and she now holds the title of Director of Operations and Principal Broker.

While Jackson Mountain Homes has always been licensed by the state of Tennessee as a real estate company, the main focus has always been property management and the promotion of vacation rental homes with the selling of real estate playing a minor role in the day-to-day operations.

In April of 2001, with the Winery Square location bursting at the seams, Jackson Mountain Homes purchased and renovated a 10,000+ sq. ft. building located at 1662 East Parkway in east Gatlinburg which has proven to be a prime location both for guests and property owners alike. Now that JMH has established itself as a leader in it’s field it is now time to for JMH to follow the natural progression to grow with the addition of a full service real estate division which is now located in a 1800+ sq. ft. space adjacent to the current offices. Now JMH is able to offer full real estate services to its guests and property owners.
